Summer Is Coming To A Close!
It’s A Great Time To Touch Base With Your Patients!

By Becky Vasquez

Summer is “play time”! Years of summers off from school have conditioned us all to relax, vacation, and not take life too seriously. Now that your patients are ready to face the real world again, it’s a perfect opportunity to remind them of you, your practice, and their dental health.

Staying in touch with existing clients is an essential part of marketing any business. Often, more focus is placed on generating new business rather than retaining existing patients. Becden’s e-newsletter last month showed an example of a dental practice e-newsletter, which is an excellent way to remain in front of your existing patient base. If you do not have the capacity, knowledge, or time for Internet marketing, here is a letter you can send to your patients to remind them of the importance of dental care, as well as let them know the services you offer. Feel free to adapt the letter to fit your specific practice and patient base. If you cater to children, add a message about mouth guards for sports, check-ups before school, etc. If you have a practice of mature patients, you could include information on implants, more aesthetic dentures, periodontal disease, etc.

Mr. John Smith

Dear __________

Greetings from our practice to your family! We hope your summer has been filled with fun and that you’ve had a chance to do some relaxing.

Here’s an update of what’s been happening with us:

1. Our business has grown thanks to our patients who have referred their friends, co-workers and family members to us. It’s the highest compliment we can receive when a new patient comes to us by word-of-mouth. If you have friends who do not have their own personal dentist, we would be honored to have your referral of them to our practice.

2. The television show, Extreme Makeover, along with numerous magazine articles on Cosmetic Dentistry, has sparked lots of interest in having a “Smile Makeover”. Not all dentists are trained in Cosmetic Dentistry, since it is not taught in dental school. We have spent many hours in continuing education in order to provide the most aesthetic, high quality restorations to our patients. Visit the website of our dental laboratory to learn more about what Cosmetic Dentistry offers (www.becdendental.com). If you’re interested, at your next visit ask to see some of the Smile Makeovers we’ve done for our patients. (Add a patient testimonial here)

3. White is in! Some of our patients love the shape and alignment of their natural teeth, but would like them to be whiter. We have introduced the Zoom whitening system to provide either in-office, one-hour, whitening take-home, or weekend whitening. Your teeth can become anywhere from six to eight shades lighter, which makes them sparkle and you look younger.

4. Black fillings are out! If you would like to get rid of the old, dark fillings in your back teeth, let us know. We have great materials now that are white and look just like natural teeth.

We are proud to have you as our patient and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. John Smith and Team

P.S. If you have questions or concerns about your dental health or the beauty of your smile, call to arrange a time to discuss them with us. Also, don’t forget that unused Dental Insurance Benefits are lost at year-end for most plans. Call us to find out your remaining benefits for 2006 so you don’t lose out!
