“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.”

Upon the recommendation of Dennis and Dr. Ed Miller, I recently attended the Advanced Functional Esthetics course at the Las Vegas Institute (LVI). The experience was exceptional, providing a motivational springboard for my office. Scattered among a multitude of clinical and management techniques were many subtle pearls of wisdom. To me, these simple ideas often prove to be the most valuable and useful.
My favorite tip came from my instructor, Dr. Randy Jones in Charleston, SC. At the bonding visit, after anesthetizing and removing the provisionals, BUT BEFORE RUBBER DAM PLACEMENT, vigorously blow the preparations with air. If any sensitivity is noted, you can use more anesthetic before placing the rubber dam, which is much easier.
