Think before you order that next burger. If you eat one quarter-pound hamburger a week over the next 10 years you will eat about 522 hamburgers. This increases the likelihood that you will suffer from cardiovascular disease.

Distortion can often be nearly impossible to detect — until the crown doesn’t fit in the mouth. One way to help prevent distortion is to always use tray adhesive, no matter what type of tray you are using.
Studies on impression materials have shown that the material will shrink towards the masses (center) during the setting time, unless adhesive is used to keep it firmly attached to the tray. Even with perforations in the tray, (as shown in the photo with two impressions on top of each other), the material can and often does pull away.
During the model work phase of fabrication at the laboratory, each impression is poured twice; one model to be used as the die model and the other for a solid model to be used to check contacts and occlusion. So, even an impression that looks firmly attached to the tray can be dislodged after the first pour without adhesive to hold it in place.
Attention to detail during impression taking on your side and model pouring on our side are both ways to prevent distortion and the dreaded “remake” for us both.
